Director of Music Ministry

Dan Davis

Daniel H. Davis, Our New Director of Music Ministry

After 47 years of working in the printing business, Dan retired in August and will be joining us as he celebrates his passion for music by becoming our new Director of Music Ministry.

At present, Dan is a soloist and member of the Deer Creek Chorale Board of Directors.  He organized and directed a 12- to 16-person acapella group that performed special music during the summer months in Harford County churches.  He was on the Board of Directors of the Harford Choral Society for 11 years and directed a special concert of the Christmas portion of Handel’s Messiah with 48 singers at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Havre de Grace in 2010. He had the opportunity to study under the direction of T. Herbert Dimmock, an acknowledged specialist in Handel.

Dan also studied choral directing and working with mature voices under Carol Krueger, Director of Choral Studies at Valdosta State University in Georgia.  In addition to volunteering his talents by singing Bass 1, Bass 2, or Tenor in local musical groups, Dan has been a member of Towson Presbyterian, Bel Air Methodist, and First Presbyterian Church in Bel Air choirs.  He readily volunteered to direct choirs as a substitute whenever possible.

Dan graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with a BS in Psychology and Music.  He lives with his wife, Susan Spencer Davis, a retired Harford County Public Schools Reading Specialist, in Forest Hill.  His married daughter, Christine Kahan Davis, is an Assistant Principal at Gunpowder Elementary School in Baltimore County.

Custodian

Lee Renwick

"Mr. Lee" was raised in Union, South Carolina and pays frequent visits there to visit family. He is the father of two. He is well known by kids and parents alike at CPC and is known to be a "gentle giant" by folks at our day care center. He has served as custodian of our church and day care for a total of about six years. He can be seen daily with his vacuum on his back, going from room to room cleaning our classrooms. When cleaning the church offices, he will often stop to ask the pastor a question about scripture or the Bible or discuss a point with him. Lee is a conscientious worker and will do anything asked of him, and he won't get too upset if you step on his freshly mopped floors before they have completely dried! We're delighted to have Mr. Lee at CPC!
